Hello,
better than words,we need to look at the reality. In the real world what
count fists are not words but what you deliver. Then you have to deal
with Fashion waves.
If we look a few years behind, we notice that most of the hot devices
that we use today have really broke in the market less than 3 years ago.
If I take the mobile hot phone in particular in the last 10 years I have
seens Nokia be cool, then Moto be hot, then an iPhone was require to be in.
The iPhone is now starting be consider off by the young generation who
are moving to the next hot things (currently Android). Blackberry, in
particular with Girls, has resisted very well compare to other type of
smart phones (e.g. Windows). It proves that a real good integration of
loved feature (in that case better texting experience) can keep your
market up. Fashion at the end is not all what you need.
As most people change their phone every 3 years, in 2 years time Android
will be a bit old fashion as well.
Now come the really hard question. What can we provide with MeeGo that
the other ones do not have. In the Connected TV area my Moto has always
be "With MeeGo we will run open applications side by side with protected
high definition content while creating a friendly system to integrate
for ODM". But what about the phone Moto?
Rather than responding words to words, we would be better to define what
will make a MeeGo phone better : Better open application environment,
Better batteries live, better synchronization with the cloud, better
integration with professional office applications, User customizable UI,
Easier integration for ODM, ...
Then deliver it.
With an iPhone, I have access to 1000's of applications,
With an Androïd phone, I can run application and Flash video
With a MeeGo phone : (see some of my dream/ideas)
- my batteries last twice longer when I play video ?
- Flash video and HTML5 plays well in HD ?
- Bluetooth integration works (as it does with Symbian)
- Applications works without draining my battery
- Better integration with Cloud application (Google and others)
The challenge is to find something simple that the mass can understand
and which is real. Obviously the ease of integration of dedicated HW
helpers in MeeGo should help to get the best out of the Batterie live in
particular when playing Audio and Video or surfing the web. That is why
I like my first offer.
But can we deliver it ?
In the mean time, I wish you a Merry Christmas to all of you.
