[MeeGo-community] MeeGo Community Apps sprint on Nov 29 - Dec 3

Hi,

As discussed in the MeeGo Conference, there will be a MeeGo Community
Applications repository sprint hosted in the Nemein office
(Hietalahdenkatu 8, Helsinki) on Nov 29th - Dec 3rd. I'm Cc:ing the
primary participants of this sprint, but others are also welcome to
join :-)

The plan is to work on two areas:

* Open Collaboration Services (OCS) API for applications submitted to
the MeeGo Community Applications repository
* Web user interface for package browsing and testing (inspired by
Maemo Packages and Maemo Downloads interfaces)

MeeGo's Community Applications system will be based on the Community
OBS. OBS provides the build services, actual repositories, and serves
as the "master record" for application data. On top of OBS there is
the BOSS workflow system which provides rules for moving applications
between PPAs, the community testing repository and the actual
community applications repository.

To complement these existing pieces of infrastructure we'll be working
on some web-based user interfaces (and REST APIs) that enable
community members more easily to browse, rate, comment and download
the applications that they're interested in. The web user interface
and the OCS API will be developed as independent pieces that can be
deployed one-by-one, and we will do them so that they can also be used
by other OBS deployments than just MeeGo.

The work will be done out in the open using a public Git repository
and everything will obviously be open source. We will also collaborate
with the OCS spec author Frank Karlitschek to ensure code reuse and
spec compatibility.
