Apparently, US military is deploying commodity hardware for their troops:

It might be an interesting avenue for MeeGo as well - after all, MeeGo
(practically) allows the hardware manufacturer to customize throughout
the whole stack, and provides an exit strategy to entirely custom
embedded Linux stack (without Java) if need materializes. Also, moving
from custom enbedded Linux to MeeGo should be a breeze.

Clearly, we need appropriately armed Meegons to go with the research
project... ;-)
