You do not need to check Gitorious for the most recent tag, just clone and get the fresh version.

Where can I get the latest version?

Have you installed qemu-arm-static? qemu-binfmt-conf.sh is in sources or in source package. And mic-chroot 0.17 does not support qemu, so need to use fresh version from git. Thanks.
