Now completely off-topic:

Conectiva around versions 6 to 8 used apt-rpm as its package manager front-
end. Complete with aptitude. Worked just fine for me and I upgraded from one
version to the next with dist-upgrade.

Later, they switched to smart (www.smartpm.org) which is very similar to APT,
but handles any number of backends. That's what I am still using today, after
having moved from Conectiva to Mandriva (and its urpmi repositories).

I still upgrade from one version to the next, though there's no "dist-upgrade"
anymore. And I love the smart --shell mode.
