In the forum discussion on Maemo Talk
(http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=534320) I tried putting this
in a bit different words:

Using a Drupal [forum] module doesn't sound like a good idea, just
like using a Midgard [forum] module wouldn't have made much sense for
maemo.org. Generally a specialized forum application is better in
every way than something developed as a minor part of a CMS. I'm
pretty sure we already learned that with Maemo's Wiki ;-)

For a major community like the one MeeGo will have, that consists of
platform developers, end users, and hundreds of smaller open source
projects you need infrastructure that is comfortable and reliable.

Towards that end it is a good idea to invest a bit of thinking ahead,
and to choose the best tools for a job, instead of trying to do
everything with the hammer you have in hand. In the old times we used
to call this approach a "Frankenstein CMS".
Integrating accounts, single sign-on and visual layouts between the
different systems is a little bit of pain, but a lot less so than
using badly-working tools will be on the long run.

Anyway, I suggest putting this conversation on hold until we have the
community mailing list up and running, in order not to swamp this
development list :-)
