I think it's very important for users to be able to customize their devices
since themes effectively change the whole look of the device and it's
applications. That's where the custom themes come into the picture since I
personally think that one or two stock themes will never be enough. There
should be relatively simple way for theme artists to create themes for
In Maemo world the theme artist can download a tar-archive of a template
and then replace the template files with their own and modify the debian
scripts. Then just use dpkg-buildpackage and finally submit the output files
the maemo.org autobuilder. Autobuilder will slice the theme and create an
installable package and upload it to the repository.
As far as I know, MeeGo uses vector SVGs for the elements instead of
doesn't it? And there are the two user interfaces, mobile and desktop, that
require different theme versions effectively doubling the work, right? And
straight to the point, is there a way to create themes for the current MeeGo
platform or is this still under development?
