When I was working at Mandriva, we had a nice git integration inside RPM which might be worth looking at. I haven't yet
tried to use it on openSUSE or MeeGo, but I plan to try it:

(I'm not talking about the section "Packaging directly from git" which is another method used by one Mandriva
contributor).
