Subject: Submitting packages to Trunk/Trunk:Testing
Hi,
When submitting changes to packages to Trunk(:Testing) please always use branch for existing packages, i.e.
osc branch Trunk:Testing <pkg name>
Why?
1. We are starting to use the obs collaboration model as described here:
http://wiki.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Build_Service_Collaboration
This mean that some packages might be maintained somewhere else and the maintainer might have some pending changes, so you need to submit your changes against the maintainer's copy and she/he will need to accept your changes first.
2. when submitting a package from a branch, it is always certain that you are building against the correct target, and not whatever you currently have in your home project.
3. When your submission is accepted, your copy is removed from the branch, this way we avoid unnecessary rebuilds of same sources.
Only new packages can come from other projects, or if a packages is submitted from a development project (devel:).
(Note: This information will be posted on the wiki)
Anas
