You'll need to add a file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ to map 
your touchscreen to the mtev (or mtdev... can never remember 
which) driver in Xorg.  Look at 
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/60-cando-mtev.conf for an example.
